(The Hosting News) – NEW YORK– The customer protection company for online businesses, Trusteer, today issued a security advisory that warns the customers of website hosting companies, including yahoo.com, against a new phishing attack aimed at stealing their content management system log-in credentials. The e-mails discovered by Trusteer appear to be from Yahoo.com (and other website hosting firms) and ask website owners to confirm their cPanel/FTP account information. Using this information, criminals are uploading look-a-like bank website pages to steal funds.
cPanel is a very popular CMS (Content Management System), used by many leading hosting providers, including Yahoo. It is used to perform website operations, including FTP account control and setup, which can be used to upload content to the cPanel-managed web site. Over the past few days, Trusteer’s security monitoring service has detected a phishing email campaign targeting owners of cPanel-based sites at various hosting providers. The attack is designed to harvest the FTP credentials of site owners, using cPanel-oriented messaging. The full report is available at: http://www.trusteer.com/files/cPanel-FTP-Phishing-advisory.pdf
“The ability to upload arbitrary content into relatively small and less popular sites may seem un-interesting fraud-wise,” said Amit Klein CTO of Trusteer and head of the company’s research organization. “However, evidence we have collected over the past few months connects cPanel-driven sites to online banking fraud. By stealing cPanel login credentials, criminals do not need to use hacking tools to upload content to a website, and therefore can avoid detection until after they have siphoned funds from consumer and business banking accounts.”

Most online marketing approaches are risky and unfortunately, many of them will not result in the increased website traffic you desire. Today’s internet marketing firms will try to sell you on everything from pop-up ads to mass email campaigns, both of which people tend to find very annoying. Being that an email campaign is more like spam distribution and pop-up advertisements are so aggravating they could actually cause you to lose customers, investing in such marketing solutions just might equate to throwing money out the window. Instead of wasting money on these risky strategies, perhaps you should focus on something that actually works – search engine optimization.
Boost Traffic the Natural Way
It is a proven fact that the most effective way to reel in targeted traffic and potential customers is through the search engines. A number of studies show that nearly 90% of first-time visitors find their way to a website via search engines powered by internet brands such as Google and Yahoo. You yourself are probably in this high percentile of web surfers who bypass all the pop-ups, spam messages and PPC ads by relying on the convenient search box to find the content you seek. Search engines offer a consistent stream of targeted website visitors and in most cases, leveraging this traffic is absolutely free. What you have to do is make sure your content is relevant to the search results because if it isn’t, visitors will likely be very disappointed when landing on your site. If you keep this is mind when optimizing your site, the search engines will reward you with increased traffic of excellent quality.
When Users Search, Everybody Wins
Search engine traffic results in a win-win situation for anyone trying to promote a website or business online. Improving your volume of traffic does take a lot of money or hard work for that matter. All that is required of you is good site optimization. Despite the millions of active domains throughout the world, an alarming number of web pages are not indexed by the major search engines for the simple fact that most of them are not optimized correctly, or not optimized at all. Unless you have a winning marketing strategy that simply cannot fail, this makes it very difficult for anyone to find your website. Though it can be a challenge, optimizing a website is also something that can be done by an individual with little to no marketing knowledge.
Believe it or not, the search engines want to send you as much traffic as possible. This is because the more users who find the content they want, the more they will rely on that search engine and recommended it to others. The actual search engine benefits tremendously as these recommendations lead to increased popularity and advertising revenues. Search engines can be an excellent resource that helps internet users find what they desire and provide you with the targeted traffic needed to keep your site alive.
Previously known as cmPublish, the Clickability Platform is a CMS with a different approach on content management. Developed by CMS provider Clickability, this platform is delivered on an on-demand basis, as well as full service with the company’s “Innovation as a Service” solution. Aside from content management, the Clickability Platform also offers analytics, email campaign, web 2.0 and advertising among other functionality. While there is obviously far more to the Clickability Platform than content management, this is indeed the focal point of the package.
Core Technologies
Though a licensed commercial product, Clickability Platform is based on powerful open-source technologies such as PHP, MySQL and Java. It utilizes Apache as its web server and Velocity for the templating system. Even though you have to pay for a license, the leveraging of various popular open-source tools makes Clickability Platform a cost effective CMS product.
Clickability Content
The main content entity in the Clickability environment is the item. Authors have the ability to create content items by selecting various types of content from the navigation pane. This CMS gives you a number of different content items out of the box, including jobs, blogs, press releases, case studies and FAQs. Furthermore, custom content types can be created as well. The templating system is a major part of the process as it allows you to actually get the content on your web pages. These templates can be tailored to display numerous types of content in different sections of a single page. While this feature caters to beginners, Clickability Platform also has something for developers with advanced creation environments and other customizing assets such as stylesheets.
Additional Features
Clickability Platform certainly isn’t short on features. The package bundles streamlined content management capabilities alongside a host of SEO tools, Web 2.0, capabilities and the following list of features:
Newsletters – Publishers can create a newsletter of content and automatically distribute it to subscribers. They can also manage mailing lists and have the ability to provide subscribers with double opt-in capabilities.
Advertising - Adverting functionality is tightly integrated into the Clickability Platform. This allows administrators to create and maintain campaigns as well as all the details that go along with them. Because ads are considered content pieces, they have targets that provide administrators with a way to track and keep up with the history of their performance.
cmSideKick – Clickability Platform allows you to run your website in the browser and the intuitive cmSideKick in a second frame. cmSideKick is a utility that enables you to perform deep analyzation of statistics, allowing you to view your site in the administrator mode or selective views to modify certain areas. This is one tool that you are likely to put to great use in the Clickability environment.
Conclusion
Clickability has come a long way since its days as cmPublish. However, it has managed to maintain all the basics of content management and received some nice upgrades to compliment the emerging technologies and web trends. Clickability Platform is definitely a enterprise CMS solution and can help to satisfy the needs of businesses of all sizes.
